Specialty Healthcare
When your doctor needs help managing your care, he or she can request a consultation with one of our volunteer specialists through We Care.
If accepted, you will see that specialist in their office.
Recommendations from the specialist and notes regarding any treatment provided will be sent to your doctor so that they can manage your ongoing care.
Care Connection Manatee
Care Connection Manatee provides services for Manatee County residents with free quality medical care assistance and linkage to local partners and providers to overcome barriers in navigating the healthcare system.
Breast Health
Your doctor can request screening mammograms, diagnostic testing so that cancer can be caught early and treated most successfully.
Pharmacy Assistance
If you are seen by a We Care Manatee specialist and you need medication, We Care Manatee can cover that medication through one of our Walmart partner pharmacies (limits apply).
Transportation for Medical
We can arrange transportation for you to the We Care Manatee office for an eligibility appointment or to any doctor’s appointments, medical appointments, or to pick up your prescriptions.

FAQ
Is We Care Manatee health insurance?
No, We Care Manatee is a charity organization working with volunteer physicians who are donating their services and specific programs designed to support those that are uninsured.
Does We Care Manatee provide primary care services?
No, we currently provide specialty care services, breast health and other imaging/lab services. Please see our program page for a list of all our current programs.
How long does my eligibility last?
Eligibility periods depend on the program. If you were approved to see a specialist, the eligibility period for the VHCPP program is 1 year. If you were enrolled in the Good County program, the eligibility period is 6 months.
Eligibility can be renewed upon request. Patients are encouraged to contact us near the expiration date of their eligibility to schedule an appointment.
Can I see any physician using We Care Manatee services?
We Care patients are referred to our available volunteer physicians only. We Care volunteer providers are contracted through We Care Manatee and the Florida Department of Health’s Volunteer Healthcare Provider Program (VHCPP).
Are We Care Manatee and the Good County program the same?
No. We are separate programs and organizations. However, We Care is an access point and can enroll patients in the Good County program and assist with scheduling services or referring patients to organizations that accept the Good County program.
Does We Care cover hospital bills?
No, there are currently no programs in Manatee County that assist with hospital bills. You must contact that hospital’s billing department to work out a payment plan.
I need medical care urgently, can I see a specialist immediately?
We Care does not provide emergency care. We are dependent upon the availability of the provider. Patients are encouraged to ask to be put on the cancellation list when scheduled in the event an earlier available appointment comes up.
